What is Short Verse?

Pure Haiku is technically complicated, requiring seasonal references and strategically placed 'cutting' words. Haiku is usually nature focused too.

If you know me you know I am anything but a purest. Rather than grow plants on the ground I spent my life growing them on walls and roofs. Same with short verse, I'm stretching the boundaries of haiku's different forms (senryu and tanka and others) then simplifying rules. 'No rules' and 'simplicity' are maxims my stroke challenged mind gravitates to.

Add Florida's wonders into the mixture and short verse flows, like bubbling springs and ice cold river runs.

The verse here is all about Florida; Florida wildflowers, wildlife, history, community, geology, color, food, sunshine and life streamlined down into a basic 5-7-5 format with enough open holes for you to fall into the trap of becoming addicted to the Sunshine State. Welcome to a fun journey of colorful words!
